Scooter Rider Arrested on Suspicion of DUI in Collision That Killed Man on Venice Sidewalk

A man and woman were riding on the rented scooter when it struck the man on Lincoln Boulevard, Los Angeles police said. The man on the scooter was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

The stand-up, electric rental scooters found on sidewalks are required to be driven in the street with only one person on board and traffic laws are to be followed, he said.

Police said James Cody Skene was riding a rented scooter with a woman passenger northbound on a sidewalk running along the east side of Lincoln Boulevard at 9:20 p.m. Saturday when the crash took place near Marco Court.
