Bicyclist Killed in Huntington Beach Hit-and-Run

An alleged DUI driver struck and killed a bicyclist in Huntington Beach late Wednesday, police said.

Matthew Liechty, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene. Liechty was a former employee of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, according to the O.C. Register.

An alleged DUI driver struck and killed a bicyclist in Huntington Beach late Wednesday, police said. Antonio Magdaleno Jr., 29, was arrested for felony hit-and-run and suspicion of DUI, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department. Both the driver and bicyclist were traveling southbound near the intersection of Edwards Street and Crosswind Drive when the collision occurred. The bicyclist, who was riding in the bike lane, was pronounced dead at the scene and has yet to be identified. The suspect’s Toyota Camry, which matched the description given by witnesses, sustained damage consistent with a front-end collision, including a caved in windshield. He was uninjured.
