The motorcycle was heading east on the westbound side of the two-lane highway when it collided with a westbound SUV, according to a CHP incident log. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Stewart West was killed when his Honda motorcycle crossed over a solid double-yellow line and was hit by an SUV on Ortega Highway, east of Morrill Canyon Bridge, according to a California Highway Patrol news release.
