A teenage boy was killed and a teenage girl was critically injured after they were hit by a freight train while walking to a high school dance in Northern California Friday evening, authorities said. The accident happened near Marysville's only high school and a little league park where a game was being played, CalFire Capt. Dennis Hunt said. The boy, later identified as Mateus Gabriel Moore, 16, died at the scene and the girl, later identified as Mickayla Friend, was airlifted to hospital with traumatic injuries, Hunt said. People who were at the game told the they heard a long blowing of the train's horn, and many raced to the scene as the train came to a stop.
