Three missing after boat capsizes on Folsom Lake
A boat capsized on Folsom Lake on Saturday afternoon, and those who were on the boat remain missing, State Parks and Placer County Sheriff’s officials reported.
“The vessel was recovered. There are some people outstanding at this point,” said Vicky Waters, deputy director for public affairs with the state’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
Divers and rescue personnel from several law enforcement agencies are at the scene, along with a California Highway Patrol helicopter specially equipped for search-and-rescue operations, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said via Twitter.
Initial reports of the boating accident came in at 1:48 p.m. A command post has been established at the boat launch in Granite Bay, Waters said. Parks rangers are leading the effort, along with deputies from the Placer and El Dorado county sheriff’s offices.
