The Filbert Street off ramp from Highway 4 and Filbert/Myrtle intersection was closed until just before 4 p.m. for the crash cleanup and investigation.
The occupants of the SUV were brothers, identified by family members as John Finister and Richard Moody, the third and fourth of their mother’s six children.
Johnnie was a great father to two teenage girls, he was a loving/happy bother, husband, uncle, son, and friend to many. God bless all, We appreciate all donations.
A fire engine was responding to an emergency call and had its lights and sirens activated while it headed north on Filbert Street. An SUV that was was traveling west on Myrtle Street collided with the fire engine, which rolled onto its side. One person inside the SUV was pronounced dead, while the driver of the SUV and the driver of the fire truck sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. Two other fire fighters sustained more minor injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
