Pedestrian on freeway dies, I-5 northbound closed
An unoccupied minivan was located on the south side of the collision scene which appears to be related to the pedestrian, according to police. But that is not yet confirmed.

The CHP said Freitas tried to cross the freeway on foot for unknown reasons. Officers said it appeared that his 2006 Dodge van had become disabled on the southbound side of I-5.
