Mikhail Aleshin hospitalized after Fontana IndyCar crash

At least three drivers played a role in the crash in Turn 4, which had a gaping hole in the catch fencing and a wheel wrapped in the fence after Aleshin’s car violently flew up against it.

Aleshin's car ripped out a section of the fence, then pinwheeled and fell back to the track as pieces of the car were scattered for yards. It took safety workers several minutes to extricate Aleshin from his crumpled car.

Rookie Aleshin injured in crash during IndyCar practice

IndyCar released a statement that said Aleshin was conscious and complaining of pain to his right shoulder and foot. He was being airlifted to an area hospital.
Aleshin was airlifted to nearby Loma Linda University Medical Center after the multi-car crash. He is now suffering broken ribs, a broken right-collarbone, chest injuries, and a concussion.
