One person killed in plane crash in Anza-Borrego Desert

The wreckage was spotted Saturday by the Civil Air Patrol, which assists the Sheriff's Department in search and rescue operations in remote areas.

Officials said the crews discovered the wreckage of the aircraft lying upside down in a desolate area commonly known as the “Borrego Badlands.” When searchers hiked into the crash site, they found a man dead near the wreckage.

 

Missing pilot killed in crash identified

The Medical Examiner's Office says 69 year-old Max John Mizejewski, was found near the wreckage of the crashed Cessna plane at 7:10 a.m. Saturday on a hillside in Borrego Springs.
One person has been killed in the crash of a small plane in a desolate part of the Anza-Borrego Desert. The plane, a single-engine Cessna, crashed Friday in a part of the desert known as the Borrego Badlands. It was on a flight from Palm Springs to Borrego Springs.
