A 29-year-old San Diego man was found dead early Monday after apparently crashing into some trees on an embankment behind a business off Interstate 5 in Chula Vista.

David Antonio Sanchez's car appeared to have veered off the southbound freeway and rolled down an embankment before slamming into the trees and damaging a chain link fence on the back side of an industrial complex at 1095 Bay Blvd., north of Palomar Street, according to police and the county Medical Examiner's Office.

A security officer found the wreckage at around 1:45 a.m., but it was unclear when Sanchez crashed, according to the Medical Examiner's Office. Sanchez was found unresponsive, strapped in the driver's seat.
