A pedestrian in his 30s was struck and killed by a truck in Escondido late Sunday night, police said.

Officers arrived to find the severely injured pedestrian lying in the roadway, Murphy said. He was taken to Palomar Medical Center, where he later died. His name was not immediately available. He is believed to be in his mid-30s.

When a white Chevy pickup drove into the intersection just after 11 p.m., the driver struck the man who was in the eastbound lanes of Lincoln Avenue.

A pedestrian in his 30s was crossing at the intersection of Route 78 and Broadway at around 11:15 p.m. when he was struck by a 58-year-old man from San Marcos. The pedestrian was in a crosswalk at the time of the accident. He was taken to Palomar Hospital where he died of his injuries.
