A fatal vehicle crash Sunday night on North Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego was apparently caused by a driver having a seizure, authorities said Monday.

A man was killed Sunday evening in a four-vehicle collision on Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego that left the road closed for several hours, police said.

The crash at the intersection of Grape Street and Harbor Drive was reported at 7:10 p.m., said the director of marketing communications for the Port of San Diego.

The fatally injured victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the injured patients were taken to a hospital, but their conditions were not immediately available.

Harbor Drive was closed to traffic on the northbound side between Ash and Grape streets and on the southbound side between Laurel and Ash streets until around midnight, Ganon said.

The San Diego Fire Department was the first to arrive on scene. Investigators from the San Diego Police Department and San Diego Harbor Police Department also responded.
