At about 1 a.m. his 1997 Ford Explorer drifted onto the dirt shoulder, ran into a sign and a power pole and overturned.

A 24-year-old Lakeport man was killed Thursday after crashing on Highway 20 in Clear Lake Oaks. He had been driving fast on the highway at about 1 a.m. when he exited of the road, hit a speed limit sign and then a power pole. The SUV flipped, then hit a chain link fence. The driver was trapped in the overturned vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the crash site.
