Alameda County Sheriff's deputy injured in Ashland crash

The crash occurred at about 2:50 p.m., as deputies were responding to a call from another deputy involved in an altercation, Jacowitz said. A responding deputy was driving northbound on Liberty Street and approaching 167th Street in Ashland, an unincorporated county area near San Leandro. In front of the deputy, a 27-year-old man was driving in a 2009 Honda CRV. As the driver turned left onto 167th Avenue, the deputy's patrol car collided with the Honda, Jacowitz said.
