The Burlingame boy was hit this weekend by a train in Millbrae, coroner's officials said.

Max Heffernan, 15, of Burlingame, was killed Saturday morning when he was hit by a Caltrain in Millbrae at about 9:10 a.m. Saturday. The Caltrain carried hundreds of passengers when the collision occurred. For more than an hour, trains were not permitted to operate near the scene of the crash.The cause of Heffernan's death will be determined by the coroner. It is not yet known why Heffernan was on the tracks.
