Man Killed By Falling Tree In San JosePark

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) — A man was killed by falling tree that came crashing down in San Jose’s Berryessa Creek Park Monday afternoon, according to authorities. The fatal incident happened at around 3:15 p.m. in the East San Jose park. Police confirmed that a man was hit and killed by the tree, but the question remains if the falling tree was related to the recent rains and strong winds. Witnesses told KPIX 5 that there were some intermittent gusts of wind Monday afternoon. San Jose police are continuing to investigating the incident.

A man who died while trapped under a fallen tree Monday afternoon in San Jose has been identified as 69-year-old Xingzhu Shi of China, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
