BART police said on Thursday that it appears that Rajkumar committed suicide because witnesses told them that they saw her jump in front of the train.
A BART train struck and killed Rajkumar after she apparently jumped in its path at the San Leandro station shortly before 9:31 a.m. Thursday. The train involved was traveling from Fremont to Daly City. The incident has shut down service at both the San Leandro and Oakland Coliseum stations and BART trains are turning around at the Fruitvale and Bay Fair stations. Previous reports indicated that a child had been killed by the train.
