SF woman killed in Castro Valley I-580 crash identified

Authorities on Monday said both men who were injured during the chain of events remained hospitalized.
A fiery crash left one dead on Interstate 580 early Friday morning. At around 4:20 a.m., an eastbound Kia sedan overturned and caught fire near the 164th Avenue offramp. Both the Kia's driver, a 32-year-old Fremont man, and his passenger, a 25-year-old San Francisco woman, identified as Danielle Reyes, were ejected. Reyes pronounced dead at the scene and the man sustained major injuries. At this point, a 2006 Honda Pilot traveling east on I-580 struck the Kia, which caused the first vehicle to burst into flames. The Honda driver, a 73-year-old Hayward man, was minorly injured. Also during the crash, a 29-year-old San Ramon man driving a 2015 Dodge pulled over to assist and suffered major injuries. It is unknown how he was injured at this time. Drugs are suspected in the initial crash with the Kia.
