Pedestrian struck during police chase in SoMa expected to survive

The pedestrian was hospitalized in life-threatening condition after he was hit in a crosswalk at Eighth and Mission streets around 10:30 p.m by a car police were chasing, Officer Albie Esparza said.

The victim's friend Raymond Che said he and his friend were crossing the street and they tried to get away, but he was hit by the car that the police were chasing. "He went flying," Che said. "It was pretty scary."

SF Police Arrest Suspect After BMW Stolen, Hit-And-Run

A 37-year-old man was arrested after a BMW M3 was stolen from a San Francisco dealership early Monday morning, a sleeping person was struck in a hit-and-run and police were called out to a domestic dispute.
A 19-year-old man was crossing at Eighth and Mission streets in South of Market around 10:30 p.m. when a blue four-door BMW that was being chased by police sped through the intersection, striking the man. The BMW did not stop, but continued on, heading across the Bay Bridge to East Bay where officers lost sight of the vehicle. The man that was hit is expected to survive. The man driving the SUV was later arresed and has been identified as Peter Derouen, 37. No more information is available at this time.
