“A lot of people get thrown out in Clear Creek, they might get banged up a little bit but usually they get back into the boat or get out of the water and they are okay,” Clear Creek County Sheriff Rick Albers told CBS 4 in Denver.
“Everything I’ve ever been trained to do, we did today,” said John, a local safety kayaker who asked FOX31 Denver not to use his last name. “It’s terrible. It’s the first time I ever saw somebody die right in front of my face.”
When deputies and officers arrived, they found a fellow rafter performing CPR on Math. She was transported back across the creek and eventually pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.
