3 killed in reported head-on crash closes eastbound I-70 at Tower Rd.

Troopers said the driver and a passenger in the Caravan were killed.  A passenger in the pick-up was also killed. The driver of the pick-up was rushed to University Hospital. 

Wrong-Way Driver On I-70 Kills 3 On Christmas

An 86-year-old man from Wheat Ridge was driving westbound on the eastbound side of the highway, according to Trooper Josh Lewis with the Colorado State Patrol. It’s not clear why or or how he ended up driving the wrong way on the highway.

The crash occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near E-470. Troopers said the driver of a Dodge van, Gerald Arnett, 86, of Wheat Ridge, was driving west in the eastbound lanes before he crashed head-on into a Dodge pickup going east.   

Family of woman killed in I-70 crash on Christmas night speaks

For the first time since the deadly crash, the family is speaking out in hopes their words can prevent another crash like the one Katie was involved in from ever happening again.
