Breckenridge Police Search For Driver In Deadly Hit &Run

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)'€“ Police in Breckenridge searched for a hit-and-run driver wanted in a deadly crash. Police rushed to the 600 block of Airport Road about 11 p.m. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is being asked to call the Breckenridge Police Department at 970-453-2941. The Breckenridge Police Department continues its investigation of the incident. Police believe she was struck by a vehicle and the driver sped away.

"The preliminary on-scene investigation indicates that the female victim was struck by a vehicle, which then left the scene," police said in a news release. "The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin." Police say their investigation into the death remains ongoing and they have no suspect or vehicle description. Cristina Martinez Hernandez, of Breckenridge, was found dead about 11 p.m. Police say they are searching for a person who may have spoken with the suspect in the Muncheez and Breck Organic Therapy parking lot on the 1900 block Airport Road. Arrest made in Breckenridge hit-and-run

BRECKENRIDGE - A suspect was arrested Thursday in connection with a deadly hit-and-run in Breckenridge that happened late last month. Chief Shannon Haynes, of the Breckenridge Police Department, issued the following statement: "I would like to thank the Breckenridge community for their support and assistance in the investigation of this tragic incident. On Monday, August 31, police rseponded to a deadly hit-and-run just before 11 p.m. in the 600 block of Airport Road. The final break in the case came from information supplied by Denver Police Department regarding a vehicular arson. Since then officers and detectives of the Breckenridge Police Department have been investigating the case with help from numerous agencies including the District Attorney's Office, Colorado State Patrol, the FBI, the Colorado Information Analysis Center, the Denver Police Department, and the Denver Fire Department.

Suspect in fatal Breckenridge hit-and-run arrested with help of FBI, Denver police

A Summit County man was arrested Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run late last month in Breckenridge that killed a 25-year-old woman. Steven James Gravatt , 55, of Blue River, is suspected in the case of tampering with physical evidence, arson and failure to remain at the scene of a crash resulting in death. Gravatt is being held at the Summit County jail, investigators say. Gravatt is accused in the Aug. 31 collision in the 600 block of Airport Road that left Christina Martinez Hernandez dead. Authorities say the FBI, county prosecutors, Denver police and fire officials and the Colorado State Patrol all were involved in efforts to locate Gravatt.
