David Mack, 55, dead and Ben Robert Mack, 17, critically injured after their car careens into guard rail and tree on Hopeville Road near Jewett City, Connecticut
The car then swerved back into the initial northbound lane it was traveling on, and “continued towards the grassy/wooded right shoulder, ultimately colliding with a standing tree,” police said.
State Police say, David Mack, 55, of Jewett City, CT, was driving a 1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata, north on Route 201 when – near the intersection with Lestor Road – he lost control and swerved into the southbound lane.
Griswold Fire Department personnel pronounced David Mack dead at the scene. The passenger in the car, 17-year-old Ben Robert Mack, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Backus Hospital in Norwich.
