3rd time a car has crashed into a New Haven home

New Haven police are investigating what caused a car to crash into a house at the corner of Winchester Avenue and Compton Street early Friday morning.

New Haven house gets hit by a car for the third time

The owner of the multifamily house said that this is the third time a vehicle has crashed into his house. He believes that if speed bumps were placed on the street, it would slow down traffic and prevent accidents like this from happening.

At around 2:30 a.m. a car crashed into a home at Winchester Avenue and Compton Street. Apparently, cars have hit this particular house three times over the past few years, causing $20-30,000 in damage in total. In this instance, a 27-year-old woman crashed into the ground floor apartment, trapping a sleeping tennant underneath. Both people were hospitalized. The woman claims that her brakes failed. The owner believes the problem is caused by people speeding on Webster Street, which is located on a steep hill. The city planted a tree to protect the building, but this crash destroyed the tree. Locals are advocating for a more effective barrier to be erected.
