A bicyclist was injured after being struck by a driver who opened his van door on K Street at Wisconsin Avenue in Northwest, D.C. The incident occurred when the bicyclist went to pass a stopped van and the driver opened his side door.
Rick Warrick was changing a tire along Baltimore-Washington Parkway when a car struck him and his fiancee, Julia Pierce. Warrick died of his injuries. Pierce was taken to Baltimore's Shock Trauma Center, and is expected to survive. There is no description available of the car.
