Motorcyclist dead after laying down bike to avoid crash
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. - A motorcyclist is dead after he laid down his bike Saturday night at Southeast 43rd Street and Southeast Ninth Place in an attempt to avoid colliding with a vehicle. The Florida Highway Patrol said Romanda Lacasy Thompson, 33, was driving his motorcycle north on SE 43rd Street and was approaching SE Ninth Place just as Aundre Jermaind Ryles, 20, was driving south on SE 43rd Street and attempting to cross traffic to turn onto SE Ninth Place.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
