While they were checking on him, the van caught on fire. Thankfully, the bus passenger and bus driver were able to use a fire extinguisher from the bus to put out the fire.
Jacksonville police investigating Philips Highway crash
Police are investigating whether alcohol might have been a factor, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
A driver is hospitalized with critical injuries after a morning crash involving a Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus. A passenger on the bus was also taken to the hospital. The bus was traveling northbound on Philips Highways when it stopped to unload passengers. A van rear-ended the bus. After the crash, the driver of the van was found unresponsive inside his vehicle.
