Driver sought in Lighthouse Point hit-run death

Investigators are asking witnesses to a Sunday night hit-run death in Lighthouse Point to step forward, officials from the Broward Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday. The pickup was traveling south on Federal Highway when it hit Michaud and then fled south to Northeast 48th Street, Carter said. Claude Michaud, 62, was crossing North Federal Highway in the 4800 block when he was hit by a dark-colored pickup at about 10:14 p.m., said Gina Carter, a sheriff's office spokeswoman. He had been crossing the street from east to west in the middle of the block when he was struck, Carter said. Anonymous tips can be made to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or www.browardcrimestoppers.org.

Man charged with leaving scene of fatal accident, returning to blame another driver

William Desvergers, 27, of Pompano Beach, was arrested Thursday after investigators determined vehicle parts found at the scene of the crash in Lighthouse Point matched the damage to Desvergers' pickup.
