Mario Antonio Garcia, 74, killed and several others injured in car crash on State Road 82 on May 16.

A Miami man was killed and six were injured in a car crash Friday evening on State Road 82 according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Around 7:30 p.m. Friday Guerold St. Facile ,42, of Immokalee was driving eastbound on SR 82 one mile east of Corckscrew Rd, according to a FHP press release. Mario Antonio Garcia and another vehicle driven by Bobby Hamm,64, were headed westbound on SR 80 just east of Corkscrew. St. Facile attempted to pass eastbound traffic on SR 82, blocking the way of approaching eastbound traffic. St. Facile’s vehicle struck Garcia’s Honda, causing it to run off the roadway and overturn.

Hamm crashed into St. Facile’s car while attempting to avoid hitting the overturned vehicle.

Garcia, 74, of Miami was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. His passenger Carmen Garcia, 72 is in serious condition at Lee Memorial Hospital.

Linda Johnson,58, a passenger in Hamm’s vehicle was taken to Lee Memorial with minor injuries.

St. Facile and the passengers in his vehicle, Huguls Cajust and Sonat Astrel were transported to Lehigh Regional Hospital for minor injuries.

St. Facile was charged with careless driving by FHP.
