38-year-old man suffers minor injuries when dragged 30 feet through parking lot when carjacked in DeLand, Florida

Carjacking victim dragged 30 feet in Florida gas station parking lot

The victim told deputies Tompert accelerated in reverse during the struggle, and the victim was dragged about 30 feet. The 38-year-old victim from Daytona Beach told deputies he had briefly stepped away from his Ford Fusion when the suspect got in the car. Deputies said at about 6:40 a.m., Darrion Tompert, 21, carjacked a man at a Kangaroo Express gas station. The victim ran back to the vehicle and was dragged through the parking lot as he tried to confront Tompert, who then sped off on International Speedway Boulevard toward Daytona Beach, deputies said. Deputies said Tompert ran from the vehicle and jumped over a fence.
