Fatal crash shuts down Florida's Turnpike in Osceola County

The rollover crash was reported on northbound lanes of the Turnpike just after 3 p.m. near Kenansville. One person was killed in the crash and three others are being taken to area hospitals in stable condition, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

One person was killed and at least three others injured after a crash Thursday afternoon on Florida's Turnpike, shutting down the northbound lanes in south Osceola County. At least one vehicle was overturned in the crash, which happened shortly after 3 p.m. at Mile 220, about 9 miles south of the next exit at Canoe Creek Service Plaza. The Florida Highway Patrol began diverting northbound traffic off the Turnpike at State Road 60 in Yeehaw Junction, about 27 miles south of the crash.

The driver, William Castillo, 45, and his son, Hector Castillo, 15, were pronounced dead at the scene. Hector was not wearing a seat belt.
