3 dead, 5 injured in 3-vehicle collision on highway
A three-vehicle collision on Interstate 10 in Jefferson County claimed the lives of three family members from Iowa vacationing in Florida and injured five others.
The collision happened Wednesday afternoon when a Ford pickup truck driven by Mickey Milam on I-10 hydroplaned on the wet road and went into the median. The truck crashed into a Honda SUV driven by Ben Bartlett and a Volkswagen sedan. Bartlett, his 11-year-old son, Charles, and 9-year-old daughter, Bailey, were killed. Ben's other daughter, 7-year-old Kaia, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and his wife, Erin, sustained minor injuries. The family is from Cedar Falls, Iowa. Milam and his two passengers, Tyler Jackson and Bailey White, sustained minor injuries. None of the four people in the Volkswagen were hurt.
