Anne McMillian, 78, killed in pedestrian collision on Carter Road in Polk County, Florida

The Polk County Sheriff's Traffic Unit is investigating a traffic crash fatality that occurred last evening, involving a vehicle versus pedestrian. Register attempted to avoid striking McMillian but was unable to so do. South Carter Road was closed for approximately two hours during the investigation. McMillian was transported to LRHMC, where she succumbed to her injuries late last evening. After striking the pedestrian, Register stopped her SUV and rendered aid.
