Plane crashes in Manatee County, causes wildfire

It happened this afternoon at 1:30 pm off State Road 37,  just north of State Road 62.

Authorities say the number of passengers on the plane is unknown.

Sheriff's office spokesman Randy Warren said both victims' bodies were recovered from a wooded area of northeastern Manatee County. Authorities haven't released the victims' names.  

Manatee detectives make "tentative" identification of one plane crash victim

Detectives have made an initial identification of one victim in Saturday's plane crash near Duette.

MCSO said that the ID is "tentative" and did not release the name of the individual.

David B. Muchler, 58, of Raleigh, N.C., and Robert “Bob” Redfern, 90, who recently moved to Manatee County from Melbourne, were tentatively identified as the victims of the crash, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
