58-year-old woman riding Harley-Davidson motorcycle killed in crash in Citrus County
Margaret Proffitt of Largo had been riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson at 2:27 p.m. at East Gobbler Drive and Old Floral City Road when her motorcycle crossed the centerline and entered into the path of a 2015 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by 69-year-old John Joseph Meade of Panama City, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
