Steven Gerena, 50, and Trudy Gerena, 53, killed, Dimitri Tagaropoulos, 27, injured in motorcycle collision with vehicle on State Road 54 in New Port Richey, Florida
Authorities identify motorcycle riders killed in New Port Richey crash Saturday
Steven Gerena, 50, who was driving the 2015 Harley-Davidson, and Trudy Gerena, 53, were riding east on State Road 54 approaching Mitchell Ranch Road around 5:30 p.m., troopers said. They failed to negotiate a left bend in the road and hit the driver's side of a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu that was at a stop sign on Mitchell Ranch at the intersection with SR 54.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
