Port Richey bicyclist hit and killed while crossing US-19

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. -- A 50-year-old Port Richey woman was struck by a vehicle and killed while riding her bicycle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 19 and Scenic Drive on Friday. Florida Highway Patrol reported that Michelle Jane Finnegan was riding westbound in the intersection when she was hit by a BMW driven by R. Carl Menkins, 80 of Largo around 8:13 p.m. Finnegan sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital where she later died. Charges are pending in this incident. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision.
