A 19-year-old woman died Saturday from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County.

A 19-year-old woman died Saturday from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County.

The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. in the northbound lanes just south of the State Road 60 exit.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report Emaleigh Rivell was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, 21-year-old John Rowland Harper of Orlando, suffered minor injuries.

Investigators say Rivell was traveling north in the inside lane in her 1994 Ford Mustang when for unknown reasons the vehicle veered to the left and exited the roadway. The right side of the car struck the guardrail and turned over.

The vehicle came to rest in the southbound center of the grass median.

The official cause of the crash is still under investigation. According to Rivell’s Facebook page she is originally from Jacksonville and was a nursing student at the University of South Florida.
