1 seriously injured in Winter Haven chain reaction crash

One person was seriously injured in a chain reaction crash in Winter Haven Wednesday afternoon. Police said around 12:50 p.m., 81-year-old Gloria Farina of Winter Haven was in a line of vehicles facing north, stopped at the light at First Street South and Central Avenue East. Police said 58-year-old Charles Evans, of Auburndale, was traveling northbound and had a medical episode, crashing his 2003 Ford F150 pickup into the back of the line of vehicles and causing a chain reaction. The truck impacted the back of a 2010 Lincoln MKX driven by 71-year-old Kenneth Irven, of Winter Haven, which in turn crashed into the back of a 2007 Ford Escape driven by 65-year-old Paul Schopke, of Winter Haven. Schopke's vehicle then struck the rear of Farina's vehicle.
