Elizabeth Arellano Renteria, 21, and Hilda Marisol Medrano, 21 of Okeechobee are dead tonight after a fatal, deputy-involved car crash happened just after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, said a spokesman for the Florida Highway Patrol.

There was also a third person in the vehicle with Renteria and Medrano, Isamar Jaimes, 20, and he was transported to Raulerson Hospital with critical injuries.
Two Okeechobee Sheriff’s Office Deputies were also injured in the car crash as well. Joseph Gracie, 46 sustained critical injuries and was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, and William Jolly, 40 walked away from the accident with minor injuries.

Renteria was driving eastbound on State Road 70, just east of northeast 4th Avenue, in her 2000 Ford Focus, when she attempted to make a left turn into a McDonald’s parking lot. Deputy Gracie was driving westbound on State Road 70, and Deputy Jolly was driving westbound behind him, said Wysocky. Renteria turned directly into the path of Deputy Gracie and his vehicle struck the right, front side of Renteria’s car. The impact of the collision caused Deptuy Gracie’s car to hit an aluminum light pole nearby. Deputy Jolly arrived on the scene, and was then struck by the falling light pole, FHP said.
