Pedestrian struck, killed while walking along roadway

Police are on the scene of an accident involving a pedestrian who was struck and killed while walking along a roadway in Cobb County Tuesday morning. The incident happened around 7 a.m. on South Cobb Drive near the intersection of Booth Road in Marietta. The accident has closed the northbound lanes of South Cobb Drive and only one southbound lane is open to traffic. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was killed during the accident. The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and is being questioned by police.

Mohammad Khawaja, a clerk at the Sunoco Food Mart in the 1100 block of South Cobb Drive, said Cumming was the owner of the Pro-Formance Place auto repair shop next door.
