The incident occurred around 6:40 a.m. on Thursday when the victim was initially struck by what witnesses described as a white or gray long-bed pickup truck traveling northbound on Columbia Drive. Following the initial impact, a DeKalb County school bus was unable to avoid striking the victim. DeKalb County Police officers arrived to find the woman deceased in the roadway. While the school bus driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities, the pickup truck driver fled northbound. No students were aboard the bus at the time. Police are actively investigating the incident and seeking information about the hit-and-run vehicle.
