GPD: Archer reopens after motorcycle crash near Shands
A motorcyclist is in critical condition after a traffic crash in front of UF Health Shands Hospital, the Gainesville Police Department said Monday.
The crash, which happened around 11:45 a.m., involved a motorcycle and a car.
The motorcyclist was driving east on Archer Road. A sedan was traveling west on Archer Road and made a left onto Newell Drive, driving into the path of the motorcycle.
Since motorcycle crashes often end in serious injuries, victims need immediate help
Motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injuries or death for the motorcyclist, since the rider is not protected from the force of a collision. When a motorcycle accident happens, the injured rider needs immediate, appropriate medical care, the accident needs to be investigated, and the insurance companies need to be informed.
When a motorcycle crash is caused by negligence, additional steps need to be taken to protect the legal rights of the injured motorcyclist or the family members of someone killed in a motorcycle crash. Go here to learn more about motorcycle accidents and claims.
