Morning McDuffie accident claims life

Because of the accident, Wrens Highway/ Highway 17 between Quail Farm Road and Happy Valley Road has been temporarily closed while McDuffie County sheriff's deputies and state troopers work the accident scene.

Victim in fatal McDuffie crash fell asleep at wheel

She was an employee at the Thomson Waffle House next to Wendy’s and was on her way home after working overnight. Shelton said authorities believe she fell asleep at the wheel.
At about 8 a.m. on the Wrens Highway/Highway 17 near the intersection of Quail Farm Road, a car drifted into the path of a tractor trailer, killing the car driver. Authorities say the woman, whose name is being witheld pending notification of family, was a recent employee of one of the local Waffle House restaurants in Thomson.
