The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Dept.'s Major Accident Investigations Team responded to a one car wreck on Sunday night that claimed the life of a Hinesville soldier.

Caron was heading south when he drove off Chief O. F. Road, striking a concrete barrier, said Eunicia Baker, police spokeswoman.
Matthew Caron was driving south on Chief O.F. Love Road when he drove off the roadway and struck a concrete barrier. The vehicle continued into a ditch, then flipped over and struck a tree. Caron was pronounced dead at the scene. Caron was an active duty solider stationed nearby.
