Longoria, an MH-47 Chinook pilot with the elite 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, credited his military training for his quick thinking.
At about 7:30am, Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 David Longoria witnessed a car that was attempting to turn right on Montgomery Street hit two students, Marquad Smith, 14, and his sister Myesha Smith, 17. While Mysesha was not injured, Marquad was pinned underneath the vehicle, driven by William Buck, 48. Longoria rushed to the scene to assist, and with the help of two other soldiers and two civilians, lifted the car off of Marquad. He was then transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
