Police say a man was ejected from the minivan he was driving on northbound Interstate 516 near the exit for West Lathrop Avenue in Savannah early Friday afternoon.

Northbound traffic on 516 is being diverted to exit 7B while officers from the Savannah-Chatham police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team work the scene.
A man was driving a minivan on Interstate 516 at about 2 p.m. when the vehicle struck the guardrail on the left side of the highway, before crossing the road and striking the guardrail on the right side, causing the man to be ejected from the van. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Traffic in the area will be diverted while investigators are at the scene.
