2 injured when Florida plane crashes in Savannah

A Piper Cherokee aircraft that left Jacksonville crashed Friday night on a golf course in Savannah, injuring the pilot and a passenger. The plane crashed in the tree line of the Crosswinds Golf Course, just west of a runway of the Savannah/Hilton Head Island International airport. According to an official, the 165th Airlift Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard responded with three firetrucks and eight personnel. Emergency officials told WTOC-TV that two people were extracted from the plane and airlifted to a hospital. Savannah Fire, Airport Police and Fire responded to the scene.
