Fatal accident in Lowndes County

A Valdosta man has died after a crash on I-75 in Lowndes County. Georgia State Patrol troopers say around 9:35 Tuesday night, 35-year-old Joseph Copeland was in the emergency lane because of a flat tire on his Dodge Caravan. A pick-up truck driven by 45-year-old John Ross failed to maintain the lane and struck the van and Copeland. Copeland was pronounced dead on the scene, Four passengers were in the van but did not suffer any injuries. Charges are pending in the investigation.
