The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office has identified the woman killed in a single-car accident in Laie early Wednesday morning as 27-year-old Nakita Bryant of Hauula.

Bryant’s stepfather, Tommy Strickland, wiped tears from his eyes, remembering seeing her for the last time just hours earlier.

Reports of a car accident came in around 1:47 a.m. in an area near Gunstock Ranch on the Kamehameha Highway in Laie. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 27-year-old woman, the driver, dead at the scene of a single-car accident. Her passenger, a 19-year-old man, was brought to the hospital with serious injuries. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
